1938 was the year the Volkswagen Beetle was introduced. Franklin D Roosevelt was president and Hitler had already annexed Austria, but had yet to invade Poland (which happened in 1939). Spain was in the midst of a brutal civil war and Portugal was six year's into Salazar's dictatorship which was called Estado Novo (New State). It is pretty amazing these grapes were harvested and the resulting wine was aged in large barrels for decades before being bottled in 2018. This is a rare glass of history for sure.
