2016 Emilio Moro Clon De La Familia

This wine is simply epic.  A blend of the Moro family Tempranillo clone sourced from all three Emilio Moro terroirs:  chalk, clay, and rocky soils, each bringing unique character and an incredibly rich roundness. Think dark chocolate, anise, licorice, round cherry fruit, almost a note of cola, well structure with pronounced but soft tannins.  This is a fantastic bottle worth its price.  The packaging is stunning and all proceeds from this wine benefit the Emilio Moro foundation.  There are only 10 bottles of this in the US. A rarity of rarities.

The Wine Spectator's Alison Napjus gives it 96 points and calls it "a dense, full-bodied red, dark and brooding, with muscular, well-integrated tannins, orange peel acidity and a velvety texture." (see reviews section below for full review)

96 Wine Spectator (Alison Napjus): "Rich and expressive, with flamboyant aromas of coffee liqueur and toast on the nose, which are immediately more subtle on the palate and serve as quiet accents for the flavors of baked blackberry, dark chocolate-covered cherry, cedar and dried lavender. A dense, full-bodied red, dark and brooding, with muscular, well-integrated tannins, orange peel acidity and a velvety texture. This has a pronounced streak of iron-laced minerality, which gains momentum through the midpalate and drives the finish. Drink now through 2031. 110 cases made, 10 cases imported."
