Lopez De Heredia 2012 Vina Bosconia Reserva Rioja

Lopez De Heredia 2012 Vina Bosconia Reserva Rioja - The Spanish Table

Lopez De Heredia 2012 Vina Bosconia Reserva Rioja

Lopez de Heredia has been one of our favorite wineries since we first had it in Spain over 20 years ago. Owned and managed by descendants of the founder Don Rafael Lopez de Heredia Y Landeta, the winery continues to make wine in the same manner as it has since its founding in the late 1800's.

Maria Jose Lopez de Heredia makes some of what we consider some of the most elegant, complex and balanced wines in Rioja. These are truly a treat and as they age their wines extensively before release they offer up a glass of history as well as enjoyment.

This wine has a deep ruby color with shades of orange. Its nose is persistent, full bodied and showing a lot of mature fruit, being dominated by the Tempranillo grape. Its taste is round, smooth, fresh, full of body and persistent.

Savory aromas of subtle earthy berries, oranges, iron and hints of walnut, tobacco and mushrooms. Fine tannins with high acidity on the palate with juicy, savory berries and a long, citrusy finish. A hint of tertiary caramel character at the end, making this very complex and complete.  James Suckling 95 pts
