Alvear Carlos VII Amontillado Montilla Moriles

Alvear Carlos VII Amontillado Montilla Moriles - The Spanish Table

Alvear Carlos VII Amontillado Montilla Moriles

Amontillado means "in the style of Montilla" - which is where this fascinatingly complex wine is made. The Carlos VII has been aging for more than 15 years in the traditional Solera System, gaining complexity and full, round, aromas while still retaining the freshness of its origins as a Fino. A harmonious blend of finesse, elegance and age. Made from the Pedro Ximenez grape, not the more common Palomino, try this with a smoked cheese, such as Idiazabal.

"The NV Amontillado Carlos VII has a medium/dark color, notes of toffee, roasted nuts and coffee, but finishes dry with great acidity and penetrating almond-paste-like flavors. This is pretty impressive... Drink now through 2030." - 93 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
