The Coto Imaz is a great example of one our 'rare and vintage' super steals. It is in wonderful shape for turning 30 this year. A bit reserved at first pour, with a bit of aged patina, it keeps opening up wonderfully with about 1 hour in the open bottle or decanter. Then it shows gorgeous classica Rioja style - warm berry compote, a hint of oak, and lively acidity that keeps the wine feeling fresh and lively. This wine is hardly more expensive than a higher end current-vintage wine and it tastes so good - it's a perfect first foray into the world of Spanish vintage wine.
