The Reliquia (jewel) releases are some of the oldest sherry available. Only eighty 375ml bottles of this are released a year for the entire wine drinking world.
One of the very old wines acquired by Barbadillo around 1850. It was occasionally topped up with wines from the “Sacristías” of prestigious bodegas in the area and laid the foundation of this Palo Cortado solera, housed in the “Casa de la Cilla”. The oldest botas NO of this solera are bottled as the Reliquia.
"The NV Reliquia Palo Cortado, as the rest of the reliquias, is so old and off all scales that they don’t bother with the official age qualifications. It has a dark amber color with green reflections, an extremely complex nose, ever-changing, you could be smelling it for hours (they call it a meditation wine?), noble woods, bitter orange, crushed shells and hazelnuts, The very concentrated palate is extremely dry, slightly bitter and salty. In fact, it’s so saline it makes you salivate.
