Jimbro 2023 Origen Blanco, Castilla y León

Jimbro 2023 Origen Blanco, Castilla y León - The Spanish Table

Jimbro 2023 Origen Blanco, Castilla y León

Origen Blanco is the white counterpart to Jimbro's Origen Tinto and leans heavily on Puesta en Cruz, with small amounts of other local varieties adding nuance. It’s a wine of freshness and clarity, carrying citrus and orchard fruit flavors alongside herbal and mineral notes that reflect its rugged origin. Without heavy oak, the emphasis here is on brightness and drinkability, making it a versatile food companion and a pure expression of the Arribes’ forgotten white grapes. Origen Blanco is approachable in style, yet still captures the distinctive character of this borderland region.

Bodegas Jimbro was born in 2010 out of a group of friends who wanted to honor this landscape by preserving its ancient vineyards and reviving the nearly lost heritage of Arribes. From the start, the project has been rooted in organic viticulture and minimal intervention, with an emphasis on sustainability that even extends to ecological beekeeping. Their winery is small in scale but ambitious in vision, seeking not to replicate more famous Spanish styles but to capture the essence of these rugged terraces and the rare grapes that grow on them. Production is painstakingly artisanal, often measured in just a few thousand bottles, each one carrying the weight of history and the passion of the people behind it.
